Export Control License Request Process

There are five phases to the export controls license request process: Assessment, development, review and submission, determination, and implementation. It can be time consuming to complete this process, so it is important that it is started as soon as possible. Remember that the activity in question cannot take place until it is determined that a license request is not necessary or that an export license is obtained.

General Information

  • Each phase of the license request process must be documented – including outcomes in which an export control license request is not necessary.
  • ALL license requests must be reviewed by the Research Foundation’s (RF) Office of Sponsored Programs Services (OSPS).
  • FINAL review and approval of the license request is made by the RF’s Office of General Counsel (OGC).
