This document describes the benefits open enrollment period and outlines what changes may be made during open enrollment.
Each year, the Research Foundation (RF) schedules an open enrollment period, during which employees can elect to make changes to their health insurance coverage (and certain other benefits) for the following calendar year.
In October of each year, central office notifies operating locations and employees that open enrollment will begin on November 1, end on November 30, and provides any other necessary benefit plan information.
The following changes can be made during open enrollment, and each requires completion of a new enrollment form:
If the employee does not wish to make any changes, and does not wish to begin or continue participation in a Flexible Spending Account, then no action is required.
The changes listed above cannot be made at any other time during the plan year, with the following exceptions:
All changes made during open enrollment are effective January 1 of the new calendar year.
