Heather Hage - Vice President, Industry & External Affairs
Heather Hage was appointed the RF’s Vice President for Industry and External Affairs in 2017.
Devoted to increasing the impact of university research and innovation through partnerships with agencies and businesses of every stage and sector, Heather oversees the RF's divisions of innovation and partnerships, external relations, corporate communications, economic development, affiliated corporations, strategic planning and new ventures.
Heather has over 14 years’ experience in technology commercialization and nonprofit management, and is the former and founding Managing Director of the SUNY Technology Accelerator Fund, which has invested over $2M since 2011 in prototyping new technologies with potential to impact human health and welfare, including medical devices, drug candidates, cleantech innovations and novel electronics.
A graduate of Hamilton College and Albany Law School, where she was Managing Editor of the Journal of Science and Technology and a member of Phi Alpha Delta, Heather's professional background includes media relations, telecommunications, IP management, law and corporate finance. Heather is admitted to practice law before the courts of New York State and the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York.
An active investor and board member of organizations empowering technology commercialization and economic growth across New York State, is a member of the board of the Long Island High Technology Incubator, SUNY Polytechnic Institute Foundation, and Central New York Biotechnology Accelerator, and sits on the Investment Committee for Accelerate New York. Heather also is the Capital District Regional President of the Hamilton College Alumni Association, and a member of the Upstate Capital Association of New York, Association of Public Land-Grant Universities, American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Association of University Technology Managers, and Licensing Executives Society.
Serving the RF since 2004, Heather is the recipient of The Research Foundation’s 2015 Woman of Excellence award which recognizes outstanding service, exemplary support of women in leadership, and a distinguished career.
