Retention of Legal Counsel Out of Foundation- Administered Sponsored Funds Policy

The Office of General Counsel and Secretary is responsible for all legal matters involving the Research Foundation, including project-related problems. As a matter of policy, vouchers representing payments for legal services which have not been authorized by the Office of General Counsel and Secretary will not be routinely honored. If it becomes necessary to retain special outside counsel, the request must first by directed to the Office of General Counsel and Secretary. Recommendation of possible firms or attorneys may be made at that time. Formal arrangements to engage outside counsel, including any modifications and extensions thereof will be made by the Office of General Counsel and Secretary.

The Research Foundation has legal staff available to assist you in concluding negotiations for contracts with respect to the administration of outside sponsored funds.

Any questions you may have should be directed to the appropriate administrator in the Research Foundation, Office of Sponsored Program Services.
