RF Report of Incomplete or Inactive CFDA Numbers for the Current Fiscal Year

Description

Purpose

Under OMB Circular A-133, the Research Foundation (RF) is required to report the correct Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) Program Number for all federal and federal-flow-through awards that are received by the Research Foundation. This number is critical in the reporting process as it is the basis for compiling data that is presented in the RF Annual A-133 Schedule of Expenditures of federal and federal-flow-through awards, which is used by the outside auditing firm to determine campus audits and to submit information to the Federal Audit Clearinghouse Web site (http://harvester.census.gov/sac). Without the correct CFDA number, the Research Foundation could potentially lose awards because of incorrect reporting.

The "RF Report of Incomplete/Inactive CFDA Numbers for the Current Fiscal Year" lists awards that have only a general federal agency number assigned to them (classified as an incomplete CFDA number in the system) or an inactive CFDA number:

Once the review is complete, you must enter correct CFDA numbers in the Grants Management module of the RF business applications. If it is determined that the CFDA number is accurate, it should be recorded as Verified in the References alternative region of the Award Management form (the list of values option if the CFDA number is verified). The report can be run on based on the verified Yes or No parameter.

For decentralized operating locations, the campus is expected to verify and document the accuracy for all CFDA numbers. For centralized operating locations, the Office of Sponsored Programs Services performs the verification and documentation on behalf of those locations.

Frequency

The report should be run regularly to monitor Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) numbers. In preparation for the A-133 Report for the fiscal year end reporting, the report should be run during the first week in March and again during the first week of June. All inaccurate CFDA numbers must be corrected before the corresponding month end to correctly reflect data in the A-133 Schedule of Expenditures of federal and federal-flow-through awards.
