Release an Invoice on Hold - Process Help (R12)
Use these instructions to release one or more holds on an invoice.
Prerequisites
- The invoice must have been submitted for approval or have a manual hold placed on it.
To Release an Invoice on Hold
When completing the Oracle forms referenced in this procedure, note that a white field indicates optional entry or one that is conditional based on the particular process.
- Select Invoices: Entry > Invoices to open the Invoices form.
- Select View > Find or click the flashlight on the toolbar to open the Find Invoices form.
- Enter the following fields on the Find Invoices form:

The current approval status of invoice authorization. Select from the current List of Values.

- Click Find to return to the Invoices form.
- Click anywhere on an invoice line to select the invoice from which you want to manually release holds.
- Note: Holds can be placed manually on an invoice or can be placed by the system during the approval process. Although some holds placed by the system can be released manually, many can't and must be released by modifying the invoice and resubmitting it for approval.
- Click the Holds tab on the Invoices form.
- Hold down the Ctrl key and click on the line of each hold you want to release.
- Click Release...1 to open the Release form.
- Enter the following fields on the Release form:

- Click OK to return to the Invoices form.
- Note: If you get a message stating that you can't manually release this type of hold, correct the condition that caused the hold and resubmit the invoice for approval.
- Click the Actions...1 button.
- Check the Validate checkbox and click OK.
- Note: Look at the invoice status to be sure it says Validated. If it says Needs Revalidation, click on the Holds tab again to see the new hold reason.
