Missing or Damaged Decals

Purpose

This document describes what to do if a decal is damaged or missing.

Background

The decal asset number is the unique identification code for relating an item to its database record. If the decal is missing or damaged significantly, the asset number may not be readable from the decal.

Procedure

The table below lists the steps to follow when a decal is missing or damaged.

If the asset number is known, then go to STEP 2.

If the decal is missing or the asset number cannot be read, then do a location search on the PCS to identify the asset number and record for the property in question. If the equipment was insured, then its asset number can also be found in the LAEF files. Then go to STEP 2.

Assign a new asset number.

Replace the old decal with a new one having the new asset number.

Use the PCS Change Transaction to modify the old record so that it now has the new asset number.
