GENERAL INFORMATION

What is the Compliance & Ethics Week RF Short Film Festival?
A Research Foundation sponsored-event that features 3-4 minute short films written, directed, produced, and recorded by employees on personal smartphones, showcasing particular compliance themes and individuals knowledge of RF’s ethics and compliance environment. The event is a fun way to promote a culture of ethics and compliance and team building at the RF.

When does the festival take place?
The Compliance & Ethics Weeks Short Film Festival will take place during Compliance & Ethics Week on November 9, 2016. If you would like to attend the film festival and awards show register here.

How do I submit my film?
To submit your film to the Compliance & Ethics Week Short Film Festival

      1. Click here to register on your own or as a team of up to 4 people.
      2. Review these Compliance & Ethics RF Short Film Festival Guidelines and FAQs; and
      3. Upload your film to the RF Short Film Festival YouTube channel.

 

FILM SUBMISSION

Can I submit a film that is a work in progress?
No. All submissions must be a complete, final exhibition copy in order to be considered for exhibition at the festival.

Can I submit more than 1 film?
You may submit more than one film as long as each film meets the eligibility requirements. For each submission you will have to complete a separate registration.

REQUIREMENTS

Who can participate?
All members of the Research Foundation and SUNY communitites are welcome to participate in or produce a film for submission.

How long should my film be?
Films must be no longer than 4:30 minutes, but the optimal time is between 3 and 4 minutes.

What should my film be about?
Consistent with this year’s theme for Corporate Compliance & Ethics Week, your film should be a fictional video based on one or more of the three categories:

        • Provide
          For example, “provide” training, “provide” a drug-free workplace, “provide” a safe work environment, etc.
        • Protect
          For example, “protect” confidential information, “protect” company reputation, “protect” whistleblowers, etc.
        • Prevent
          For example, “prevent” fraud, “prevent” workplace harassment, “prevent” misuse of company credit cards, “prevent” conflicts of interest, etc.

What is the judging criteria?
Films will be judged based on the following criteria:

        • Accuracy of content;
        • Script (Originality, clarity, use of humor/drama, etc.);
        • Use of Compliance Week Theme (Provide. Protect. Prevent.);
        • Performances; and
        • Production Quality.

The winning categories will be:

I. Chosen by our Compliance Film Festival Jury

        • Best script;
        • Best use of theme;
        • Best performance; and
        • Jury’s Award for Best Overall Film (selected by the Film Festival Jury)

AND

II. Crowd Favorite (The Film Festival Jury will select up to 10 films to distribute to all RF employees that will get to vote on a favorite)

How many people can I have on my team?
You can register on your own or as a team of up to 4 people.

Are there any films you won't accept?
RF leadership and organizers of the Film Festival reserve the right to refuse films that do not follow the guidelines above, violate Research Foundation policies, or are not appropriate for a professional environment. Films can be edgy and humorous, but remember that this is the Compliance & Ethics Week RF Short Film Festival.
