Students in the United States on an F-1 visa are employable under U.S. immigration law, although certain restrictions apply.
For information about the F-1 student visa category, including the applicable employment restrictions, see F-1 Student Visa Category.
The Research Foundation may employ noncitizens who have F-1 student visa status and whose employment does not violate the restrictions and regulations imposed on this visa category by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
Note: If an operating location employs an F-1 student visa holder, as part of authorized optional practical training, after the student has completed his or her studies, the appointment cannot be made in a student title. For information about optional practical training, see F-1 Student Visa Category.
Operating locations must have a procedure for monitoring student status and ensuring employment eligibility.
