Research Foundation Board Member Mr. Steven N. Fischer
Steven N. Fischer is a business consultant and attorney who has served on numerous boards including Mechanical Technology Inc., MTI Micro Fuel Cells, Inc., Logical Net Corp., the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, Mall Airways, Inc., New York State Board of Public Accountancy, University at Albany, Center for Economic Growth and the Council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Fischer is also chairman emeritus of the Adelphi University Board of Trustees. He served as chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Mechanical Technology Incorporated (MTI), a NASDAQ company dedicated to developing and commercializing new technologies, from 2004-2008. MTI co-founded Plug Power Inc., a leading manufacturer of fuel cells.
Prior to that, he was co-founder and chairman of Urbach Hacker Young International and chairman and chief executive officer of Urbach, Kahn and Werlin PC.
A certified public accountant, Mr. Fischer earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from City College of New York and a Juris Doctor degree from the New York University School of Law. He is admitted to practice before New York state and federal courts.
He is a recipient of several honors including the City of Albany Jacob H. Herzog Leadership Award, University at Albany Distinguished Service Medal, and the Jewish National Fund Tree of Life Award.
Mr. Fischer resides in Loudonville with his wife, Lucia, and has three children.
